Adoption Update
I have not written much about our adoption journey over the past few weeks, mostly because there has not been much to write. We spent weeks moving beyond the disappointment of the previous adoption possibility falling through and now have made plans to move forward. The problem is – what do we do now? We had not been looking at the possibility of an infant adoption so we started looking for older kids in the TN state system but were quickly discouraged because the majority of kids available were older and we are trying to keep our birth order intact. Every night we would ssearch for possible options and just found ourselves frustrated with the interenet and consistently hitting dead ends.
Today we had an appointment at Miriam’s Promise to discuss the potential of doing an international adoption. We looked at mutilple countries and all their requirements. Some countries are just more than we can afford (25K-30K), some require that one or both parents stay in the adopting country for a month or more while finalizing the adoption, and several countries limit the number of children you can already have in the home. These requirments limited our options.
So, for now we have narrowed our country possibilities to Ethiopia, Liberia, Hong Kong, and the Phillipines. We are doing quite a bit of research, making phone calls, praying, and figuring out the next step. There is one other domestic possibility that we are trying to track down this week.
It has been a rough ride ever since we said ‘yes’ to this process but we still feel very called to adopt so we are moving forward. Thanks for the emails asking how things are going and I will keep you updated as we move ahead.

i know that all these decisions are hard ones. i always find comfort in the fact that although nothing seems clear to you now, God already knows where and who your child is and he will bring that all together in the most perfect of times.
God bless you and your family on this journey!
