The Nap Room

att1475268.jpg

This was posted on the wall of the toddler nap room at the Mild May AIDS clinic, a Compassion partner in Uganda.  Wow.

The clinic serves over 300 adults and 90 children each day.  The Pediatric wing runs a day care and a critical care unit.  We saw both and as a father I was overwhlemed looking into the faces of these terminally ill children – until they smiled and waved at me and I remembered even HOPE can show up in the darkest of circumstances.

Our internet connection is AOL dial up slow so we have not read much of the other team members blogs.  However, the word in our emails is that Carlos has some amazing video. Head over there and check it out.  Baptists beware, the man has tattoos AND claims to be a Christian.

  1. Brian, i have not even read this post I simply read your blog title and had to laugh. Being with you this week has been nothing remotely close to a simple journey and this is your life! I think it should say exhausted, emotionally draining and life changing journey. :) H

  2. It’s amazing how we take for granted what we have. I do, and I know better. I’ve been in the alleys of South America, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. I’ve lived without refrigeration, without hot water. And…I still forget and complain. Thank you for the reminder. We just have to keep reminding ourselves…the rest of the world has SOOOOOO much less. Like food and shelter. Help us Lord…And yes I signed up to sponsor a child yesterday…But it isn’t enough. Lead me Lord.

  3. Amazing. Nothing else I can add.
