About Me
I realize that about half of you are new to this blog and know very little about me. That seems fair since I know virtually nothing about you BUT I am not going to let that get in the way of our introductions. Thanks to those of you who ended up here because of my Ugandan Blogger friends. Those are some good people. I am not one for drawn-out introductions, so let’s just get to it.
Hi. My name is Brian and I live in Tennessee but the first 30 years of my life were in the great nation state of Texas. I am married to the best wife I have ever had, Amy, and have four amazing children -Olivia (10), Phillip (8), Natalie (6), and Nathaniel (4). I have a dream job with Compassion International and a dog named Bagwell.
Here are some insights into my life:
We are adding to our family by at least 1, but hopefully 2, later this year…but NOT getting pregnant.
We have MAJOR parental struggles with growing up in the South.
I am just flat out weirder than you.
Amy and I come up with some messed up theories on life when we stay up late.
I hope that gives you a good glimpse into my brain and my family. Welcome to the blog.

hope you don’t mind i just added you to my blogroll.

thanks, Aaron. I have returned the favor over on my blogroll.
Hi Brian–I enjoyed your weirdo blog. I just last week came to the epiphany after 29 years of eating that I always subconsciously eat the things I like least first and most last. This effectively means I always clean my plate–no wonder my weight is always wobbling! Thanks for your advice on Haiti–I decided to go in April!
I’m new. I’m outing myself. Shaun sent me, and I’ve spent the better part of the last few days reading old posts on your site and laughing my head off.
Because you’re weird. In a Jesus-freakish kind of way. And I love me some weird. (Although I prefer the term “quirky.” It’s more PC.)
Also? I love me some maps. I got the gene from my Dad — who also gets updated Atlases (Atli? Atlasesses?) for his birthday. Google Maps is like crack to me.
So here’s a question for those of us who are new — how did you end up with such a cool job at Compassion? Or is that already in a post I’ve managed to miss?
We are adding to our family within the next 4 – 6 months ourselves NOT by pregnancy AGAIN.
We have a daughter who is 11, she is our miracle biological child, a 3 year old bi-racial son from here in the US who is adoption miracle number one and we are in the process of adoption miracle number two, our son Abel, from Ethiopia is 7 and we hope to have him home by June.
Nice blog, I found you from Anne’s blog.
Blog on!
I started reading your blog because I’m your sister, but for real, it’s one of my faves.
Love you!
jenn
Carole – thanks for the encouragement and that’s great about Abel! We are also adopting from Ethiopia but won’t have our referral until this summer.
Hi Brian, I figured I should out myself as a reader, especially since you do know me. You married my husband Matthew and me about six years ago (or should I say you officiated at our marriage) and I found your blog through Boomama. We hear about you occasionally “through the grapevine” but I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog, and Amy’s too (though she doesn’t update as much). We have a little guy named Nathanael, too! He’s 15 mos, and we’re very interested in your adoption process as it’s something we’re very interested in, too, and had actually started pursuing just before finding out Nathanael was on the way. Sorry for the long comment!
Love the blog. Welcome to my roll.
Jon – I have added you, as well.
Kristen – good hearing from you and that is wild you found me through boomama (that is one funny mama). I was in TX recently and asked about you guys. Glad to hear all is going well and congrats on the son. Tell Matthew hello for me and follow the blog for adoption updates.
