Movies
Amy and I had a date night last night and ate some fantastic Italian food and caught a pretty funny movie (Baby Mama). I realized today, while pondering the good laughs I had at this $9 per ticket movie, that I have not seen a GREAT movie this year. I mean, a movie that just floored me.
So, have I just missed it? Have you seen that GREAT movie in the last 6 months (via the theatre or dvd) that I, and the rest of this readership, just absolutely need to see?

the last 4 dvds we’ve “netflixed” have been…”no country for old men”…”there will be blood”…”the squid and the whale” and “the darjeeling limited”…no country was the only great movie of the bunch, but none of them compare to the joy of watching “lars and the real girl” or “waitress”…if you haven’t, you should.
Once is the best movie I have seen in a while. My wife disagrees. But I loved it.
Yes, The Unforseen, but it’s an Austin-centric documentary about Barton Springs that won’t be playing at your local theater. It’s worth netflixing.
I used to be ‘Austin-centric’, meaning I lived there, so the movie about Barton Springs could be good.
Laura - I am headed to Africa in a few weeks but will only be in Uganda for a few days.
we just rented The Savages and turned it off about 15 minutes into the movie. don’t waste your money.
we rented “The Waitress” and unbelievably i (we) did not like it.
we thought it was boring, plotless and the acting was subpar.
not what i was hoping for in a movie about PIE. (love pie)
and i did not like “27 Dresses” either.
these last 2 surprised me because i typically love this type of movie.
We loved “Dan in Real Life”…but haven’t ya’ll seen that one?
we are going to see Baby Mama this weekend.
We also liked Dan in Real Life more than we expected. Michael Clayton - rough subject matter well performed. On the flip side - we totally didn’t like were embarrassed we paid a $1.00 to rent “Gone Baby Gone” - just awful.
The Great Debaters was a great movie, if you ask me! If you missed it, you should watch it. Oh, and I like Baby Mama! There’s a few things in there, like the child birth classes scenes, that we Moms can appreciate!

I’ve heard so many good things about “Bella” that I got hubby to order it from Amazon. If you go to the Amazon site, there’s a really good interview with the latino actor..seems to be a man of good character!
I forgot about Juno and Dan in Real Life - both very good. I saw No COuntry For Old Men and I thought it was good but maybe I am just getting old and the violence was hard for me.
I think everyone should go see ‘Expelled’.
I actually liked Ironman…it didn’t floor me…but it was better than I expected.
Dan in Real Life was great.
Made of Honor-saw it twice, just awful, in my humble opinion.
Baby Mama- just okay.
Juno- loved it.
I’m looking forward to Prince Caspian and Indiana Jones.
In case you were wondering, I have a job where I take people to the movies several times a week. No R rated movies though.
Kinda old…But I just watch “Charlie Wilson War.” Good movie. I would not call it great. But it is profound. Enjoy the blog.
I watched “Charlie Wilson’s War” this weekend and it ok.
“Bella.
“On a Clear Day.”
Both redemptive and inspiring.
