One Good, One Not So Good

I like to rent television shows on DVD and watch them while I am traveling. Last year I watched the full series of Alias and a few seasons of 24 – all of it viewed on planes or at a Hampton Inn somewhere. I have not watched anything recently so I went and picked up Prison Break last week and was completely disappointed. I returned it after only watching 3 episodes.
Now, the complete opposite viewing experience happened a few weeks ago when Amy and I checked out the first season of Arrested Development. Now that show is ‘laugh out loud even when you are by yourself‘ funny.
What do I need from you? I need some advice on what series to take on the road with me this fall. I am traveling a decent amount and I want something worthwhile to pass the time on the many airplane trips I will have.

House…about the only thing Holly and I watch with any regularity.
Arrested Development is stinkin funny, isn’t it! I’ll have to rent it and watch some more…
You said you got through a few saesons of 24…that would defiantely be one that I would recommend continuing…last winter, we had a really bad ice storm and were iced in the house for more than a week…we watched 4 seasons of 24 and are now addicted. The new episodes are coming back next January…just in time for you to catch up!
I am completely addicted to Mad Men. Season Two is in progress on Sunday nights on AMC; Season One is available on dvd. It is the story of an advertising agency on Madison Avenue in the early ’60’s. The acting is superb (the male lead won a Golden Globe), and the writing is amazing. And they’ve obviously spent a lot of time making sure it’s historically accurate, which is fascinating. It’s definitely drama (read: heavy at times), and there are lots of twists and turns that you don’t expect. But if you’re looking for something to keep you entertained…this one’ll do the trick.
Take a look at Burn Notice, the USA network’s original series about a former US spy whose been ‘fired’ and dumped in his hometown of Miami. One of the most entertaining shows on television right now in my book. I just finished watching season one in marathon style and am about to get started on season two.
I also like Numb3rs, a CBS crime drama, about a set of brothers, one of which is an FBI agent, and the other is a math whiz who helps the FBI solve crimes using math. It is not nearly as boring as it might sound.
Friday Night Lights, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Everwood, and Daybreak. I found all of these on DVD, and with the exception of Friday Night Lights, the rest have been off the air for a while. All of them are awesome!
LOST hands down. Totally addictive. the Closer, Damages (though it has a bit of adult content in it) all gripping with great writing.
The Office, 30 Rock, Lost are my favorites!!
May I recommend “Heroes”. Or if you want some real funny classics, get stuff like “The Honeymooners” or “The Three Stooges”. You can never beat some of those classics.
Lost, definitely Lost. My husband would say Heroes, but I’m still a little iffy on that one.
i’ve made a huge mistake

Friday Night Lights, for sure. I don’t even like football, and it is some of the best TV I’ve ever seen.
You absolutely need to watch Heroes. Season 2 just came out a few weeks ago and the first season was remarkable and this one is turning out to be really great as well. We are watching season 3 as it plays but will purchase it as well as soon as it comes out later next year. (you might check into renting the movies from the library. I think they are cheaper there!
