The Game of LIFE

We sat down this weekend to play a family game of LIFE. It was a fun couple of hours but we had to explain all the rules to Yeneneh, who was playing for the first time. Early in the game you are forced to stop your vehicle and “get married”. We looked through the rules and there seems to be no exception to this act – you must marry in this game or stop playing. Doesn’t really sound like real life but we decided to skip the philosophical discussion on marriage and just keep playing.

Except Yeneneh. He was determined not to get married.

We talked some more and he finally accepted the arranged and forced marriage but not happily. Amy handed him his small pink piece, which represents his wife, and he placed it in the vehicle that serves as the game piece. But as he placed it in the vehicle he stated, “Me not like getting married. She sit in back.” As you can see by this picture (his piece is obviously the yellow one) he followed through on that promise. Needless to say, he did not win any points with his 3 sisters and Mother.

  1. I don’t blame him. I wouldn’t want to be in an “arranged” marriage either. Especially at the age of 11!

  2. Oh my goodness, Minte did the same thing a few days ago! Made his wife sit in the back!! And he FREAKED out when he had twins. When I had to get married he picked up the bag of pegs and said, “Boy or girl?” LOL Um, boy.
